Normal background concentrations of contaminants — WMS

Background Contaminants

Domain polygons for normal background concentrations (NBCs) of contaminants in English soils data are made available to view here as a WMS service.

Data layers include:

  1. Domain polygons
    • Arsenic (As)
    • Benzo-[a]-pyrene (BaP)
    • Cadmium (Cd)
    • Chromium (Cr)
    • Copper (Cu)
    • Lead (Pb)
    • Mercury (Hg)
    • Nickel (Ni)
  2. Urbanisation index polygons defined from GLUD database
  3. Polygons defining areas of metalliferous mining derived from the Ove Arup database

Service Address

Enter the address below into your WMS client.

The service supports the British National Grid and Lat/Long WGS84 coordinate systems and the data is visible when zoomed in between 1:100 000 and 1:25 000 scale.
